Tennessee Society of Orthotics & Prosthetics

Who we are and what we do.
The TSOP Annual Meeting will be held online May 20-22, 2021.
Registration will open March 15, 2021.

The TN Department of Health through the Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners has an annual continuing education hours requirement for all O&P licensees in the state.

Within this requirement are a certain numbers of hours that must be acquired within the state of TN (6 hours for each discipline).

Though the TSOP meeting is virtual in 2021 due to COVID-19, the continuing education hours acquired through the meeting will count towards your annual in-state hours requirement. Once you have completed your virtual CEU courses you will receive a certificate from TSOP verifying the hours you have completed.  This is the same certificate you would receive if the meeting was in person and if needed may be used in the verification of your TN in-state hours requirement.

TN O&P CEU requirement:
  • Each licensed orthotist, prosthetist and pedorthist must annually complete fifteen (15) hours of continuing education in courses applicable to his/her profession. At least six (6) hours of the continuing education each year must be obtained by each licensee from providers in the State of Tennessee.
  • A person who is licensed in more than one (1) profession under these rules shall annually complete a total of twenty (20) hours of continuing education.
  • Of the twenty (20) hours required by subparagraph (a), six (6) hours shall be subjects pertaining to each profession in which he/she is licensed. For example, a person who is licensed as an orthotist and as a prosthetist is required to complete six (6) hours pertaining to orthotics and six (6) hours pertaining to prosthetics. The remaining eight (8) hours required could pertain to either orthotics or prosthetics.
